Assignment 4/6/2007

Homework due:
April 9th:

Using strips of paper, tape, and the coffee stirrer from class (or a long twist tie, or a 6 inch piece of wire) examine how wing shape affects lift. Cut several strips of notebook paper the same length and width, as I demonstrated in class, and tape the ends to form wing loops. Test the loops by blowing across the top of the loops as I demonstrated in class. Then introduce folds in the loops to change the shape of the wing and test again. Take charge of your testing and see whether changes in the wing shape top and bottom affect wing performance. Take notes about your strategies and the results.

Collect space, planet, sky images for display on the shoji screen.

Continue with your experiment for Project Fair.
